Nick, I have a ...Thanks for your comments, people.

Nick, I have a copy of Radical, but I haven't read it yet. Probably by the time I review it it will have gone the way of The Shack.

I guess I have been thinking about how to have greater congregational participation and mutual edification even in the church service. I went to a Pentecost service last Sunday evening in which people were given an opportunity to say (in two sentences) what Pentecost means to them. Of course, felt like there were no right and wrong answers - how do you correct people in a setting like that? I was thinking about saying something outrageous like, "The Holy Spirit makes the grass grow," but I kept silent.John Dekkerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03127084907802954563noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-28444732.post-56457242195329069762012-05-29T18:49:18.960+10:002012-05-29T18:49:18.960+10:00After searching ye olde blog, I didn't see a r...After searching ye olde blog, I didn't see a reviews on the book Radical, by David Platt. Seems everyone has read Radical these days. Any plans to review it?Nickhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13878691500812901835noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-28444732.post-64113184342452147312012-05-29T18:36:23.998+10:002012-05-29T18:36:23.998+10:00I started reading this, but never finished. It made me think.

Your review was well written, though I find it almost equally interesting you picked this books to read in the first place.

Do you think there is anything you will change in your own church as a result of something you were challenged by in the book? Maybe sit in a circle instead of pews? lol.Nickhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13878691500812901835noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-28444732.post-79976018995686711562012-05-27T01:08:07.103+10:002012-05-27T01:08:07.103+10:00I note that Mark Driscoll has also reviewed the bo...I note that Mark Driscoll has also reviewed the book.Radagasthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15008107925553904609noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-28444732.post-32886828792184036252012-05-24T12:06:30.817+10:002012-05-24T12:06:30.817+10:00John, thank you for providing the book review on &...John, thank you for providing the book review on "Pagan Christianty." I have not read the book but have noticed it on several Christian blogs and in bookstore ads of late. Very good food for thought.

This concept is actually something I have wrestled with in the past and still do in some regards, but within a different context of applying Biblical principles to living.

I guess my main question I keep coming back to is: "Where do we draw the line between culture, as in the culture that existed during the time the Bible was written, and adhering to a Biblical culture that would be required of God?" Not an easy question to answer and even harder to understand proper orthopraxy.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts on the book.Lydia H.https://www.blogger.com/profile/14719110749827634156noreply@blogger.com
